Oklahoma City, July 28, 2021 – The Board of Directors of Presbyterian Health Foundation (PHF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom R. Gray, III as PHF’s Chairman, following the retirement of Carl Edwards who held the role for more than 17 years. Mr. Edwards succeeded PHF’s first and founding Chairman, Stanton L. Young, in 2003. The Board is also pleased to announce the appointment of Rick McCune as PHF’s President beginning August 1, succeeding Mr. Gray who has served the Foundation as its President for the last eight years.

“We have grown our capacity to fund lifesaving medical research tremendously over the past decade,” said Chairman Tom R. Gray, III. “Rick McCune is absolutely the right choice as President as we continue to accelerate Oklahoma City’s thriving biomedical sector, strengthen biotech partnerships in Oklahoma City, and reach our goals for growing medical research outcomes and impact.”

Founded in 1985, PHF has granted more than $195 million to biomedical research institutions and health focused organizations with an emphasis on research enterprise taking place within the Oklahoma Health Center campus. The PHF’s focus is to bring scientific discoveries to market by encouraging the research scientists of today to be inspired, passionate, innovative and bold as they identify, evaluate and develop new ways to save and enhance lives.

“I’m honored to have been selected for this important role and to continue this critical work,” said Rick McCune. “Thanks to the many years of strong leadership provided by Carl Edwards, Tommy Gray, and PHF’s talented Board of Directors, we are uniquely positioned to continue advancing the biomedical technology sector here in Oklahoma City, ultimately leading to better healthcare for all Oklahomans.”
